After nearly a year of unsuccessfully testing and working with authors of promising free plugins, technical issues of building the THP Bazaar site have finally overwhelmed me… At this point, I must accept the reality that professional help is necessary.

Hard-working Partners deserve income for their revivals, which will indirectly subsidize future THP research, online and textbook publication.

Crowd Funding

I am now working on a crowd-funding proposal that (hopefully!) will raise the cash it will take to get it “up and running” ASAP. Since is geared primarily to artistic projects and this part of THP’s master plan is more entrepreneurial in nature, it seems better suited to

The next steps are assembling estimates from the most likely EDD-savvy consultants and review of the proposal itself by marketing-minded colleagues. Stay tuned!

I have completed a first draft of the “story” for the IndieGoGo campaign. It is under review by several trusted advisors—I will post a link to it when I have updated it with their feedback.

Now I’m working on a slide show to go with it: specimens of the most exciting revivals to be sold at the THP Bazaar.

In the meantime, I’ve nearly completed a set of demos explaining the plugins needed and how they should display the fonts. I will post links for these too, in case someone knows a “code geek” who might like to submit a bid.

Stay tuned!

The IndieGoGo [IGG] “Pitch Image”—so far. It appears at the top of the campaign page when someone clicks the “Card Image” (the Bazaar logo):

Draft of IGG slide show displaying specimens of revivals facilitated by THP—many thanks to my high-end graphic designer pal for for suggesting an in-line animated gif instead of the clunky YouTube video alternative!

A long way to go… The goal is to present 20 fonts that are diverse in style, interesting to type-clueless potential donors, representative of technical difficulty and fairly well historically documented:

Some (all?) of the fonts shown will be offered as IGG “perks”—thank-you gifts for contributions of certain amounts relative to their value.

The next hurdle is to figure out what perks to offer for different contribution levels. Small donations will be appreciated with discounts or coupons for purchases.

Attention, Partners!

Please let me know ASAP the following info about your fonts in the slides:

THP will pay for your fonts with proceeds of the campaign. Do not let this discourage you from asking the highest price you think the market will bear!

  • Proceeds are released by IGG 15 days after the campaign ends.
  • The maximum campaign period is 60 days—30 days is recommended.
  • Unlike, all funds raised are distributed even if the cash goal is not reached.

P.S. If the campaign is launched by midnight on December 24, an IGG fee discount applies.

Hi Anna,

Just want to confirm something. Will the chosen fonts offered as “perks” for the campaign also available for purchase normally when the campaign ended?

Also, is there a link to the campaign available (if already started) or a date available on when it start?

Thanks again.

Best regards,

For perfectly good “life happens” reasons, key THP partners are unable to furnish info on the intended retail prices and/or availability dates for commercial-quality versions of their revivals soon.

Consequently, I have decided to focus at first on tangible perks as described here.

  • This option will take some time to negotiate with third-party vendors.
  • As before, small donations will be rewarded with discount coupons.
  • As soon as possible, the fonts themselves will be introduced as new contribution incentives.

This strategy may hasten the date when the indiegogo campaign and dependent bazaar site are launched—a Good Thing for all concerned…

Stay tuned!
