The earliest specimen of Gazelle# examined by THP is shown in the 1893 catalog of ATF Cleveland. William E. Loy writes that it was designed by Henry Schuenemann, Cleveland TF’s staff punch-cutter the until the ATF merger (1892). Thereafter, this branch discontinued production of original type designs and Schuenemann did some impressive freelance work for the St. Louis Branch (formerly Central TF) and for Barnhart Bros. & Spindler.
