Moorish [right] was designed, cut and patented by German immigrants Julius Schmohl and Ernst Lauschke, who assigned the rights to Barnhart Brothers & Spindler [USPTO D20778, April–May 1891].
Commercial specimens consistently showed Moorish Open [above left] on the same page or in a spread. As advertised, this handsome stylized latin was meant for multi-color effects!
