I am interested in reviving this face. Does anyone know whether this has been done?

Great choices—no one has done these BBS lovelies as far as I know! No Solo specimen comes to mind, so this may  explain why.

Still, it might be smart to run it by the What the Font Forum at myfonts.com.

Climax is a BBS re-issue of Solar without the “target” motifs and different numerals. The patent cited in the April 1890 Inland Printer piggy-backs the one for Solar [USPTO D18024]. It was issued to C.E. Heyer in 1887-1888; he did not assign the rights.

The design for matching Dearborn Initials was patented by Ernst Lauschke and Julius Schmohl in 1889 [USPTO D19346]; they assigned the rights to Barnhart Brothers & Spindler.

Let me know if you need the patent specimens.

Hi Alan,

Daniel Morris posted at briarpress.org in June that he might like to tackle a digital revival of Climax. What do you think?

I am going to start reviving this series and would appreciate any specimens outside of the Inland Printer samples. Thanks, as always, for your outstanding assistance!

This series is almost completely revived in one superfont. A patent specimen and any other materials of any or all three faces would be appreciated.

Hi Alan, last time I emailed Anna with some of the errors I found in TypeHeritage website, she told me that she is having a problem with the internet connection. You might need to wait a little for the specimens to be uploaded…

Climax, Dearborn Initials and Solar have been revived as Cliffhanger PDS, Deerfield Initials PDS and Solomonic PDS. Thanks once again to Anna for awesome specimens of hard-to-find characters for these. Note that although Dearborn had been frequently shown with Climax in samples, it is a completely different and unrelated family. Dearborn has been shown with other typefaces from BBS.
